More than 150 years ago, the American watchmaker and engineer Florentine Ariosto Jones traveled from Boston to Schaffhausen. On the banks of the Rhine, he realized his bold vision of industrialized, centralized watch production, directly powered by the river’s current.
The perpetual energy of water, the source of all life, not only made our founder’s dream come true. It has also inspired us and fundamentally shaped the way we manufacture our watches. We create products designed to last forever — responsibly managing our planet and its resources, and respectfully treating the people who proudly wear our watches.
Our watches are built for longevity — a long-term approach reflected in our manufacture movements, our robust and reliable chronographs, our mechanically programmed calendars, and the advanced materials we use. What eternity is to function, timelessness is to design. An IWC Schaffhausen mechanical watch can be passed down through generations. Our functional design approach, characterized by purity and symmetry, ensures that our products maintain their beauty and culture enduringly.
This unique stance is expressed in our promise: «Engineering Beyond Time». Timeless design. Engineered for eternity. And manufactured with the utmost respect for people and the environment.
